2008 Community Report

Giving to get there.

People with cancer and their loved ones
are extremely grateful to all donors, sponsors, partners, community groups, and other supporters who believe that the Canadian Cancer Society is the best investment in the cancer cause.

Total revenue in 2008 was $28.8 million. $12.4 million was donated in support of three signature programs-Spring Campaign (Daffodil Days and Door to Door canvass), Relay For Life and Cops for Cancer.  Gifts in the form of bequests and legacies and in memoriam donations were close to $7.5 million. The remainder came from other special events, corporate contributions, direct response and in memoriam gifts.

Relay For Life

Survivor Bev Azak proudly displays the Nisgaa Nation Flag which was carried by Up the Nass team members for an entire Relay For Life in Northern BC.

Every single donation makes a difference.

An innovative project with corporate Helijet took place in October. For a day they distributed key chains to remind female passengers about breast help and accepted donations. The company was also involved in a BC Healthy Living Alliance initiative to reduce the number of young workers who smoke.
